PC Modding Guide

All the mods that I recommend are available â€‹through GTA5-mods.com and all links take you there. Remember that modding is only allowed offline for the single-player campaign and that you will be banned if you log on to GTA Online.

Step 1: Preparations

First, follow this basic checklist:

  1. Download and install the OpenIV app.

  2. Download and install the Script Hook V script.

  3. Download and install the Community Script Hook V .NET script.

  4. From within OpenIV, install the OpenIV ASI and the ASI Loader. See instructions here.

Second, copy all data files before you mess with them:

  1. Go to the GTA V root folder, typically C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V.

  2. Create a subfolder named "mods."

  3. Create a subfolder named "backups."

  4. Copy into mods all the *.rpf files from the root dir, named x64a.rpf through x64w.rpf, plus common.rpf.

  5. Copy into mods the entire contents of the "update" subfolder, including update.rpf and the "x64" subfolder.

  6. Copy into backups the following files from the root dir: GTAV.exe, GTAVLauncher.exe, PlayGTAV.exe

Step 2: Download Mods

First, download all the mods that you need (find my links in the next section):

  • put them in a separate folder, either on the desktop or in your user dir

  • unpack them and make sure that each subfolder is clearly named: trust me, this will save you headaches later

Second, launch OpenIV and prepare it:

  • click on the "mods" folder from the menu at left

  • click on the "Enter Edit Mode" button on the top-right corner to begin modding your files

Step 3: Install Mods

 I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU INSTALL MODS IN THIS ORDER
