Part Nine
Remaining Objectives  +  Takeover

Remaining Objectives

  • These objectives become available at different times during the game, but mostly toward the end. For best results, should be completed before you upload the Coral Scan. After the shit hits the fan, completing these will be  a lot more difficult. However, none require exiting to space, which becomes downright impossible toward the end when all the station's airlocks are closed...

GUSTAV LEITNER

Prey-9-side1.jfif
  • After Igwe has returned to your office (post-Cargo Bay), the next time you're in the Arboretum he will call you to ask to go to the Crew Quarters and recover a memento.

  • In Crew, go to the "B" Cabins and open the secret safe behind the Leitner portrait, using the audio sample that Igwe has sent you.

  • From the safe, recover a neuromod, a chipset, and the Gustav Leitner Connectome to finish the objective.

Prey-terminal.png

MIKHAILA'S FATHER

Prey-9-side4.jfif
  • Mikhaila asks you to recover her father's file the first time you speak to her in your office.

  • Go to Deep Storage. Find the file in the room labelled "Confidential Records." Decide whether to transfer it to Mikhaila, listen to it, or delete it. Whatever you choose is inconsequential to the game's ending.

  • If you choose to transfer it, return to your office in the lobby and listen to it with Mikhaila.

TREASURE HUNT

Prey-9-numbers1.jfif
Prey-9-numbers3.jfif
Prey-9-numbers5.jfif
Prey-9-numbers6.jfif
  • Number 1: Melindra Shadowcorner (Danielle Sho)

    • the map is on Sho's terminal in her office in Deep Storage

    • the number is in the G.U.T.S., in the fuel storage area right next to the Shuttle Bay entrance

  • Number 3: Hordinbaffle Flagdasterous (Zachary West)

    • the map is on West's corpse in the Arboretum, in the Deep Storage access hallway near the grav shaft

    • the number is

  • Number 5: Rosalyn Swift (Emma Beatty)

    • the map is on Beatty's corpse in the Crew Quarters' fitness center

    • the number is in the Cargo Bay, near the access hatch to the G.U.T.S. and the Life Support entrance

  • Number 6:  Captain Stabfellow (Elias Black)

    • the map is on the gaming table in the recreation center in Crew Quarters

    • the number is in Crew Quarters, next to the recycler in the supply closet by the Yellow Tulip bar

Prey-9-numbers.jfif
  • Visit Danielle Sho's cabin in Crew Quarters and click on Utilities on her terminal.

  • Try every combination of the numbers 1, 3, 5, 6 until you get it. The combination randomizes with each new game.

    • I recommend using an incremental sequence to keep track of your attempts: 1356, then 1365, then 1536, then 1653, and so forth.

  • The reward is the Adventurer's Toolkit Chipset Fab Plan, which you can fabricate at any fabricator.

Prey-terminal.png

WITH THIS RING...

Prey-9-side2.jfif
  • Speak to Kevin Hague in the Cargo Bay to begin this objective.

  • In Crew Quarters, find Nicole Hague's phantom in the guest executive suite, the same one that had hosted the celebrity singer Argenteno Pero (hmmmm).

  • From Nicole's corpse, get a neuromod and recover the Wedding Ring. Take this back to Kevin the Cargo Bay to complete the objective.

Prey-terminal.png

TROUBLE PROCESSING

Prey-9-side3.jfif
  • In Cargo Bay, right next to the G.U.T.S. access hatch, click on Activate Processing from the wall terminal.

  • Go to the G.U.T.S. and do the same on the terminal next to the corpse, then click on Open Cargo Doors.

  • Inside the cargo area are three shipping containers with minor loot. One can only be opened with Hacking II. There's also a chipset in one of the floating crates.

  • One shipping container floating around in G.U.T.S. has a number and can be opened from Cargo Bay: 0715. It contains several EMP and recycler charges.

Prey-terminal.png

"MAKEUP EXAM" ACHIEVEMENT

Prey-9-exam.jpg
  • If you return to the Neuromod Division and go to the three testing rooms from the prologue, you can unlock this achievement by using the proper typhon abilities to complete the tests the way you were "supposed to."

  • Room A: use Kinetic Blast to move the boxes.

  • Room B: use Mimic Matter to disguise as the chair.

  • Room C: use Remote Manipulation to push the button.

The Takeover

RECOMMENDED PATH

1. Arboretum. Get the chipset from Alex's office.

2. Exterior. Follow markers to scan coral nodes.

3. Arboretum. Upload the scanned coral data.

4. Lobby. Meet with Igwe to discuss alternatives.

5. Shuttle Bay. Investigate Dahl's shuttle and find      out Kaspar's location.

6. Life Support. React to Dahl's Ultimatum.

7. (Location variable). Seek and destroy Kaspar.

8. Arboretum. Meet with Alex to discuss options.

Scanning the Coral

Prey-terminal.png

ARBORETUM

Prey-9-arbo1.jpg
  • Go back to Alex's office and watch the video. This is the third of the "three Morgans" that you see.

  • Get three neuromods and the Coral Detector chipset from Alex's desk. Install it right away.

  • If this it the first time you revisit the Arboretum after you last left it (post-Crew Quarters), typhon will have respawned, such as a Weaver near lobby access, voltaic phantoms in Crew access, and mimics everywhere.

  • Exit to space via the airlock by Deep Storage access.

Prey-terminal.png

TALOS I EXTERIOR

Prey-9-coral.jfif
  • Follow the markers to find the coral. It's in the innards of Talos I, near the area where you found your first Q-Beam from Mariana Arias' corpse.

  • There are two Weavers, two corrupted operators, and several cystoid nests "guarding" the coral nodes. Kill them however you see fit, and then do your scans.

  • Return to the Arboretum pronto to upload the scans.

Prey-terminal.png

ARBORETUM

Prey-9-arbo2.jfif
  • Upload the coral scans on to Alex's terminal.

  • Halfway through, the upload interrupts and Dahl takes over Talos I.

  • Hide in the secret room behind Alex's desk: the military operators cannot see you behind the looking glass.

    • Obviously, this does not work if you previously smashed the glass. In that case, you'll have to engage the operators head-on from the beginning.

Dahl's Takeover

Prey-terminal.png

ARBORETUM

Prey-9-arbo2.jfif
  • There are 13 military operators in the Arboretum:

    • 1 in Alex's office, plus 3 just outside

    • 3 in and just around the greenhouse

    • 2 in the G.U.T.S. access hallway

    • 1 in the Crew Quarters access hallway

    • 1 near the grav shaft to Deep Storage

    • 1 near the grav shaft to The Bridge

    • 1 in the Lobby access hallway, behind the glass

  • Escape or fight them all. Of course, the latter is easier if you blocked the operator dispenser on the promenade.

Prey-terminal.png

LOBBY: the nonlethal alternative

Prey-9-Igwe.jpg
  • Speak to Igwe in your office to learn about the non-lethal escape option ("Incapacitate Dahl").

    • Receive a new chipset from Igwe.

  • Help Luther Glass. You'll get an SOS call from a crew member supposedly trapped in the Trauma Center. You have seen his corpse before, so you know this is a trap.

    • Go to the Trauma Center, destroy the four military operators that ambush you, and block the dispenser if it wasn't already to prevent more from spawning.

Prey-terminal.png

SHUTTLE BAY: Dahl's shuttle

Prey-9-shuttle.jpg
  • If this is your first time in this area, read the exploration guide here, which contains no Dahl-related spoilers.

  • Regardless of whether you've been here before, there are 10-12 military operators patrolling the area, and minimal typhon presence.

  • Enter Dahl's shuttle (easier if you extend the jetway from Shuttle Control). From on the terminal just outside the cockpit, listen to William Yu's message to learn about Dahl's mission and the location of the Kaspar operator.

  • Kaspar's location is random. The four options are below.

Prey-terminal.png

LIFE SUPPORT: Dahl's Ultimatum

Prey-9-life1.jpg
  • As soon as you leave the Shuttle Bay, Dahl will call you with a side objective: Dahl Ultimatum.

    • If you've killed every human survivor so far (36), he will task you with killing the last four. Find them in a Telepath's thrall in Life Support, and kill them all.

    • If you've saved every human survivor so far, he will threaten to kill those in the Cargo Bay. Go to the Air Filtration Control Room in Life Support and either repair or replace the broken air mixture regulator (or fabricate a new one: see the Life Support guide for how to find the fab plan).

  • While you're in Life Support you can also subdue or kill Dahl. He's in the Oxygen Flow Control Room. Just walk up and stun or kill him. You can also stun him remotely from the Air Filtration Control Room: just initiate the decontamination sequence from the terminal.

    • Get the Shuttle Cargo Keycard from his body. In the cargo section are two neuromods.

    • If you do all of this after Dahl's takeover but before you enter his shuttle in Shuttle Bay, then the Dahl's Ultimatum side objective just doesn't activate at all.

Prey-9-life2.jpg
Prey-terminal.png

NEUROMOD DIVISION: Incapacitate Dahl

Prey-9-Dahl.jfif
  • Some time after you've stunned Dahl in Life Support, of course provided that you didn't kill him, you'll get Igwe's call summoning you to the Neuromod Division.

  • Return there. Let the typhon and operators fight, and go to the med lab that's upstairs in the Skill Recorder area.

  • From the terminal, engage the surgical harness, perform the neural scan, and finally perform the neurotomy. After Dahl is up and the doors open, find neuromod inside.

  • I and It. If you wanl to kill Dahl and Igwe, this is your last chance before the ending.

Killing Kaspar

Prey-terminal.png

Possible Kaspar locations

Prey-9-Kaspar2.jpg

Neuromod Division

  • Go to the Neuromod Division from the Lobby. Kill or avoid the typhon who are fighting the military operators; mostly just let them kill each other...

  • Kaspar is in the simulation lab. Go to the rooftop with the fake helicopter that's surrounded by Looking Glass walls.

  • Break through any of the glass panels and destroy Kaspar.

Prey-9-Kaspar4.jpg

Hardware Labs

  • Go to the Hardware Labs from the Lobby. Kill or avoid the typhon who are fighting the military operators; mostly just let them kill each other...

  • Kaspar is in the Ballistics Lab, the one with the room-sized recycler that's being used to test recycle grenades.

  • Just walk up to it and destroy it (plus a few other operators).

Prey-9-Kaspar3.jfif

Psychotronics

  • Go to Psychotronics from the Lobby. Kill or avoid the typhon who are fighting the military operators; mostly just let them kill each other...

  • Kaspar is in Director Kelstrup's Looking Glass room. Go to Kelstrup's office, open the secret area behind his desk via his terminal, go downstairs, and destroy Kaspar.

Prey-9-Kaspar1.jpg

Talos I Exterior

  • Exit to space from any airlock, but Kaspar is closer to either the Hardware Labs or the Cargo Bay. That's because...

  • Kaspar is in a maintenance duct near the Cargo Bay Hull Breach. Just follow the marker; or, if playing without markers, find a maintenance alcove flooded by red lights just behind the Cargo Bay breach, fly in, and destroy it.

Arboretum: Meet with Alex

  • Alex is just outside his safe room, in the back of his Arboretum office. Listen to him speak and watch the cutscene...

  • After Alex faints, grab him and fly to his safe room. Let go of him, loot his body, and click on the green panel outside to lock him safely inside his room (Save Alex objective).

    • From his body, you recover: Alex's Arming Key and its Fab Plan; the Prototype Nullwave Transmitter Fab Plan; two neuromods; his Transcribe; and a "cherished family photo."

    • Inside the safe room is Morgan's Transcribe, one of the earliest yet, referring to "October."

    • You can fabricate the nullwave device or a copy of Alex's Arming Key at any fabricator.

Other Possibilities

  • Ghosting Dahl. You can deactivate Morgan's bracelet to prevent Dahl from tracking your movements. Simply go to Danielle Sho's office in Deep Storage and enter "0913" on the tracking terminal.

  • If you successfully thwart Dahl's Ultimatum in Life Support, but do not stun or kill Dahl, he will beat you to the elevator and go up the Arboretum. He threatens to kill Alex in his safehouse, which you can prevent or let happen. After that, you can still stun or kill him; and if you stun him, the "Incapacitate Dahl" objective is still available.

  • Once Kaspar is destroyed and Dahl is either dead or incapacitated, the game's several possible endings are open. These are all discussed in the next and final part of this guide.
