Arboretum

Arboretum

  • Since this is one large map, the sections below will refer to discrete "corners" or "areas" within it, although these bleed into each other and aren't as clearly delineated as elsewhere.

  • Get a neuromod from Jia Kyung-Ho's  corpse and kill two disguised mimics nearby. Listen to his Transcribe to finish the Disgruntled Employee side objective.

  • Approach the glass door to trigger the Nightmare. Scan it  with your Psychoscope quicklybefore it disappears. The QuickScan chipset is useful here.

RECOMMENDED PATH

  1. Clear the greenhouse.

  2. Visit the Deep Storage access hallway to advance the main story.

  3. Clear all other sections, including the access hallways to Crew Quarters and the Bridge.

  4. Visit Alex's office.

  5. Fix the main lift and leave to the Lobby.

  6. After clearing the Lobby again, return here and go to Crew Quarters.

  • Leave the entry area via the open hatch up on the right. Grab a shotgun by the corpse just outside. It's up top you fi you want to ignore the turrets, destroy them if they're hostile to you, or reprogram them with Hacking II,.

  • Go right and enter the seed storage room with Hacking I (no other way in). Inside is a disguised mimic.

GREENHOUSE

  • Jump to a lamppost and then atop the wall. Inside the greenhouse is a Telepath and three enthralled humans.

    • I and Thou. You must save all three. My strategy is to toss a nullwave at the Telepath to force it to leave the greenhouse, then jump after it and kill it when its explosion won't hurt the humans.

    • I and It. You must kill all three yourself: if they explode while running toward you, it does not count. Take them out at a distance with the Q-Beam or a couple of Kinetic Blasts.

  • Save Rani. Rescuing Rani triggers this side objective. Speak to her to get the code to AR01 Storage, which contains two turrets and other loot (see below).

  • Collect a lot tomatoes, bananas, and lemons from the greenhouse. It's useful to bring some 20 fruits with you instead of 3 medkits: same healing value, half the space.

  • Grab the Water Pressure Regulator from the table: this will save you some backtracking later.

MISCELLANEOUS POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Save Rani. There's a greater mimic in front of the A01 Storage room. Open the door with Rani's keycard and get weapons and two turrets.

  • There's a gazebo with Iris Stein's corpse, halfway between the Crew Quarters access hallway and the A01 Storage room. On it is a neuromod.

  • There are a greater mimic and an etheric phantom near the Deep Storage grav-shaft. Deal with them how you see fit: I like nullwave + Q-Beam from far away.

  • There's a thermal phantom patrolling the large tree by the lily pads, near Ellie Gold's body. Same as above.

  • The large rock next to Elle Gold's corpse hides the A2 Storage Keycard: lift it with Leverage II or recycle it away.

  • The A2 Storage room is by the Crew Quarters access hallway. Inside it are two neuromods and Lawrence Baxter's phantom.

  • Walking past the large tree there's a corpse near a bench by a looking glass wall. On top of that wall is a hollow with two disguised great mimics.

  • Gardening Tips. Here is also Julien Howard's corpse: get his Transcribe and Dr. Howard's Growth Formula Fab Plan.

  • Fabricate the growth formula and put it in the irrigator next to seed storage, just above the G.U.T.S. entrance. Press the button to begin the process.

  • From the hollow with Howard's corpse, jump over to the next one for loot. From here, jump to the building with Alex's office. Fix or gloo the electrical junction underneath it and find Marietta Kyrkos' corpse.

  • The Golden Gun. Get her Transcribe, Jada Marks' Cabin Keycard, and the keycode for Jada Marks' safe.

  • Go to the Deep Storage grav-shaft. Open the Arboretum airlock. Find Zachary West's Transcribe on his corpse, which ends the "Detour" objective and begins "Gathering Echoes." Also get the Crew Quarters Keycard.

  • Treasure Hunt. West's corpse also holds the Hordinbaffle treasure map. You will find the related number later.

ALEX YU'S OFFICE

  • Get a neuromod from Alex's desk. Move or recycle the crate to access the hatch behind his desk.

  • Who Is December? Use the code that you got from December to open his safe: get two neuromods, Alex Yu's Cabin Keycard + Morgan's Transcribe.

    • Listen to the Transcribe for interesting lore. This is one of the "three" Morgans that you see in the game.​

  • From the roof of this building you can reach the escape pod: extend the bridge from Alex's terminal or just walk along the metal beams at left. A neuromod is by the pod.

CREW QUARTERS ACCESS HALLWAY

  • Kill two corrupted operators inside the security booth: use EMP charges + 9mm, or toss a recycle charge.

  • Move the speaker that obstructs the left-hand window. Click on the terminal using Remote Manipulation and open the booth from the Utilities tab.

    • No Needles. Place a ​red supply crate by the large spotlight, stand on it, and line up your boltcaster. This is finicky and requires precise movements.

  • Get weapons and some loot from the security booth, plus more downstairs by the Crew Quarters entrance.

LOBBY ACCESS HALLWAY

  • Get the Disruptor Battery Fab Plan from Jenny King's corpse and the Transcribe from Lily Morris'.

  • Talos Smuggling Ring. Dead drop = one neuromod.

  • There's an etheric phantom behind the glass. Smash the glass and let the turrets kill it, or get the drop on it by sneaking in through the hatch from the MedBay.

  • The lily pads on the glass ceiling are mimics! Kill one and others will come running through the hallway; the turrets can take care of them.

  • Lift or recycle the cargo crate blocking the entrance to the locker. Get the Shotgun Fab Plan from Carin Buckley's corpse. This is essential for a No-Needles run, as weapons wear down and you cannot fix them.

  • There's also a chipset and minor loot in this area.

  • From here you can also go through the glass ceiling to the rest of the Arboretum, but I advise against it because there are dangerous typhon and you can't get a jump on them.

  • Return to the Lobby, where there's a lot to do. You will return to the Arboretum frequently, and several typhon will respawn from time to time. However, no new areas unlock, and the layout stays largely the same.

Talos I Lobby (again)

  • To fix the lift, kill the Technopath and the two corrupted operators. A good strategy is to neutralize the big guy with a nullwave, then toss EMP charges to down the operators and take your time killing everything with the Q-Beam. Of course, if you have typhon abilities that'll help, such as Electrostatic Burst or a couple of Kinetic Bursts.

  • Do No Harm. Get Hendrik DeVries' Office Keycard from his corpse, along with his Transcribe.

  • Take the elevator down to the lobby. As you exit, there's a Telepath, a Weaver, and a Nightmare. Run like hell and find a safe spot to kill them from, like the glass walkway or your office window. If you want to avoid the Nightmare, you can simply lock yourself inside the Trauma Center and it won't be able to enter.

  • When you're done in the Lobby, ride the lift back to the Arboretum (watch out: there's a phantom lurking inside it, and you have to be quick to loot it after it's dead or it will disappear) and go to Crew Quarters.
